Toys for Tots Quilting Project

Galloway Ridge’s Artisan Studio is a vibrant hub for creativity, offering a variety of clubs and activities, including painting, flower arranging, basket weaving, and quilting. While residents pursue these artistic passions for personal enjoyment, many also use their talents to give back to the community.

One such opportunity arose through a partnership with the Triangle Woodworking Association, a woodworking group based in Cary, North Carolina. For the past 30 years, its major service project has been producing wooden toys for the Marines’ Toys for Tots Program. Each year, about 15 members lead small workshops of 2–5 people, collectively producing and donating approximately 6,000 handmade toys.

This past holiday season, Galloway Ridge residents were honored to contribute to this meaningful mission. Our talented quilting group collaborated with the Triangle Woodworking Association to create handcrafted doll beds for the Marines’ Toys for Tots Program. As the woodworkers built the beds, our quilters carefully stitched doll-sized mattresses to complete each piece.

It was a significant undertaking for both groups, but their combined efforts resulted in 50 beautifully crafted doll beds. We are incredibly proud of our residents’ dedication and grateful to be part of such a heartwarming cause!
