OUR BEGINNINGS:
A VISION FOR VIBRANT LIVING

Galloway Ridge at Fearrington officially opened in June 2005, but its story began much earlier. In the 1980s, the Fearrington Village Master Plan included a vision for a Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC), though the village still needed time to grow and mature before
the need became clear.

By 1997, residents were expressing interest in longevity and wellness programs, sparking open dialogue with Duke Hospitals. The following year, plans to pursue a CCRC began to take shape. What started as a request for a swimming pool and exercise facility evolved into a broader

vision—creating a community that would support aging in place while offering access to wellness-focused amenities.

Partnering with the Duke Center for Living, this vision became a reality, laying the foundation for what would become an award-winning Life Plan Community.

Today, Galloway Ridge redefines the meaning of vibrant retirement living. With a full continuum of care on a single campus, we offer not just a place to live, but a place to thrive.

As part of this commitment, Galloway Ridge offers a Type A LifeCare contract—the most extensive and inclusive option available. For a one-time entrance fee and a monthly service fee, independent living residents are guaranteed high-quality, unlimited assisted living, skilled nursing, and memory care at minimal cost. This provides tremendous peace of mind, allowing residents to focus on their passions and community without worrying about future healthcare needs.

THE HEART OF GALLOWAY RIDGE:
OUR RESIDENTS AND STAFF

At the core of Galloway Ridge is a community of talented, driven individuals who share a passion for making a difference. Residents come from diverse backgrounds, bringing their experience, wisdom, and generosity to shape a culture of engagement and purpose.

Since 2005, our resident-led Chatham County Charitable Fund has provided over $100,000 annually to local nonprofits such as the Boys & Girls Club, CORA, Chatham County Schools, and Love Chatham. Additionally, the Galloway Ridge Turnaround Shop, established in 2013, raises vital funds for the Resident Benevolent Care Fund and Employee Emergency Fund, while also supporting Habitat for Humanity with donated goods.

Beyond their generosity, residents foster a culture of trust, cooperation, and kindness—values that define relationships within Galloway Ridge and our broader Chatham County community.

We are equally committed to empowering our staff. The Triangle Community Scholarship supports employees pursuing higher education, while the Central Carolina Community College provides funding for technical training and university transfers. These initiatives ensure that our team members continue to grow personally and professionally, strengthening the fabric of our community.

a community rich in Creativity

At Galloway Ridge, we believe art enriches life and fosters a vibrant, creative atmosphere. Established in 2020, the Galloway Ridge Art Collection showcases over 400 original works, spanning diverse artistic styles and mediums. Made possible by generous contributions from

residents and friends, these pieces adorn our hallways, stairwells, and gathering spaces—transforming everyday moments into artistic experiences.

Curated by the Galloway Ridge Art Advisory, the collection also features a docent program, connecting viewers with the stories behind the art. Whether admiring public displays or participating in workshops and events, residents have countless opportunities to celebrate the

transformative power of creativity.

Resident and Board LeaDership

Our leadership structure reflects our commitment to resident engagement. Galloway Ridge is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization governed by a 10 to 12 member Board, including three Resident Board Members. Resident Committees, reporting to the Residents’ Council, collaborate closely with leadership to ensure meaningful dialogue and continuous improvement.

Looking Ahead:
A Future of Innovation

As we celebrate two decades of excellence, we continue to evolve—enhancing our offerings and ensuring an exceptional lifestyle for future generations of residents.

One of the most exciting transformations underway is our dining renovation, introducing four new restaurant concepts designed to elevate the Galloway Ridge experience:

Belties – A social hub where residents can gather over coffee, small bites, and cocktails.

Harvest – A cozy, casual sit-down restaurant celebrating North Carolina’s rich flavors with locally sourced ingredients.

Mulberry Market – A vibrant, market-style space offering quick, delicious meals—perfect for on-the-go dining or picnic prep.

Table 23 – A refined American-style restaurant delivering an elegant fine dining experience with thoughtfully crafted dishes.

Honey & Hearth – A warm, inviting café offering artisan breads, pastries, pizzas, and comforting meals from our new stone hearth oven.

Looking forward, the future is bright for Galloway Ridge. We remain committed to innovation, resident well-being, and deepening our connection with the broader community. Our legacy is one of resilience, generosity, and continuous growth—and the next 20 years promise to be just as extraordinary.
