Today’s show “The Village Movement for Aging In Place” discusses the what Aging in Place means and how the Village Living philosophy has taken the senior community to different heights. Village Living was launched in 2002 when Beacon Hill Village in Boston, Massachusetts opened its doors to help older adults remain in their home and communities as they aged. Since then the movement has taken over with over 15,000 members in more than 90 active U.S. villages and some 120 more in development. What does this mean exactly? Is this type of community living right for everyone aging in today’s society? What are the pros and cons of living in a Village Movement community? Today we are joined by Mandy Summerson, Executive Director of Carolina Villages in Chapel Hill, as we discuss Village Living right here in Orange County.
