Chatham County Senior Games: Victory!

The National Senior Games Association hosts a sports competition once every two years for adults above the age of 50. Sports include archery, bowling, cycling, table tennis, and soccer, among many others. This year, Galloway Ridge’s first Table Tennis team emerged under the leadership of Coach Priya. They hope to compete in the National Senior Games in 2025.

First, however, they must qualify. This begins at the county level. Competitors who place in the top 2 or 3 of their respective age categories will move on to the North Carolina Senior Games which takes place later this year. In the State Finals, the top 3 finishers of their respective age categories will move on to the National Senior Games.

After months of hard work and dedication, Team Galloway Ridge participated in their first official table tennis competition at the Chatham County Senior Games.

They returned VICTORIOUS with 6 gold medals and 1 silver medal!

Sonia, one of our Resident Enrichment Coordinators, shares: “Each [resident] displayed true athletic spirit. Coach Priya’s guidance truly shone through in [their] amazing teamwork and gameplay. I’m so incredibly proud to have been [their] cheerleader. [They] all deserve a huge round of applause!”

Now, the team is on to the State competition!

Coach Priya reflects on their performance: “If our players continue to show their ability and prowess, I am confident that they will make the cut and qualify for the Senior National Games.”

We are so proud of our team!
