2013 Galloway Ridge at Fearrington Employee Scholarship Program

2013 Galloway Ridge at Fearrington Employee Scholarship Program

Galloway Ridge at Fearrington believes in the development of a literate and educated work force for its community. The Employee Scholarship Program and educational support further exercises this belief by helping employees realize their goal of continued education.

We are proud that Galloway Ridge residents care about our employees and would like to help them realize their educational goals. The Employee Scholarship Program is supported by donations from residents and managed by the Triangle Community Foundation. This year, $13,500 was awarded to eleven recipients pursuing degrees, certificates and continuing education at licensed and/or accredited educational institutions.

Scholarship recipients are selected based on objective standards that are unrelated to the applicant’s employment at Galloway Ridge. Eligibility criteria include a minimum of 480 work hours and twelve consecutive months of employment prior to the application deadline. A scholarship applicant must have a high school diploma or equivalent or be planning to graduate from high school in the year of application. Studies include courses toward a degree, diploma, certificate or license, at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in North Carolina.  Course work completed through distance education offered by such an accredited NC postsecondary institution is allowable.

Kathy Turner, Director of Human Resources stated, “The Employee Scholarship Program changes the lives of employees through learning. It provides opportunities for employees to grow, learn, develop skills and achieve lifetime goals. It is just one additional way that we can recognize and reward good employees and help encourage their continued education.”
