2011 Galloway Ridge at Fearrington Scholarship Program
Why does the Galloway Ridge Charitable Fund support the Employee Scholarship Program?
Galloway Ridge at Fearrington believes in the development of a literate and educated work force for its community. Working in partnership with the Galloway Ridge Charitable Fund, the scholarship and educational support further exercises this belief by helping employees realize their goal of a college education.
The purpose of the Galloway Ridge Scholarship Program is to attract and retain qualified employees by providing some financial assistance, to the selected eligible employees of Galloway Ridge for their educational advancement. Eligibility study includes courses toward a degree, diploma, certificate or license, at an accredited two-year or four-year college or university in North Carolina. Course work completed through distance education offered by such an accredited NC postsecondary institution is allowable.
The requirements to be considered for a scholarship are:
- Must have completed one (1) year of service at Galloway Ridge
- Has accumulated, or is expected to accumulate 480 hours of work from January 1 through December 31 of the application year will be eligible to apply.
- We expect scholarship recipients to earn and maintain a “C” average in the course(s) taken or program in which they are presently enrolled
- Good Performance
- Good Attendance
- Satisfactory Annual Reviews
Beatrice Runyan, Director of Human Resource stated, “The Employee Scholarship Program is just one additional way that we can recognize and reward good employees and help encourage their continued education. Many employees that have received scholarships and completed their education had remained at Galloway Ridge and had moved into a position that uses their new degree. We are very fortunate to have generous contributors to our Galloway Ridge Charitable Fund supporting the scholarship program that enables us to provide these wonderful opportunities to our deserving employees.” Diane Tietz, Accounting Coordinator and 2010 Scholarship Recipient stated, “This scholarship distinguishes Galloway Ridge as one with a real commitment to helping its employees reach their highest potential!”
