Wellness at Galloway Ridge

At Galloway Ridge we are proud to embrace the seven dimensions of well-being.  Our residents are empowered to lead healthy lifestyles in our vibrant Life Plan community, with easy access to a wide variety of wellness programming that is designed to strengthen individuals’ minds, bodies and spirits.

A true wellness culture is brought to life by the dynamic curriculum of events and programs that are custom designed to help residents live their best lives. Whether you love to hike, participate in group exercise, dance, or socialize while attending an art gallery there is something for everyone to enjoy. The Duke Center for Living, our on-site medically-based fitness facility, adds an additional layer of opportunities to be active and maintain health outside of Galloway’s walls.

Not only do we ensure our residents have the opportunity be physically active, we provide programming to keep brains healthy too. Dr. Cynthia Green’s Total Brain Health, an evidence-based program to improve cognitive function, is offered on a regular basis, and balance and coordination classes are offered several times per week.  Finally, series such as ‘Tai Chi for Arthritis’ and ‘Art Without Expectations’ are offered for relaxation and spiritual well-being.

In addition to group programs, residents may enroll in our unique wellness coaching service.  This service, which is offered at no additional cost, gives residents the opportunity to work with a professional wellness coordinator to create a personalized wellness plan based on individual goals and interests. The wellness coordinator will assist you with setting SMART (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Realistic & Time-Bound) goals and provide advice and support in helping you to achieve them.  While physical wellness is just one piece of the wellness puzzle, you have the option to have a senior functional fitness screening performed.  Every six months you may meet with the wellness coordinator to trouble shoot any barriers you are facing to your individual wellness, update your goals and track your progress.
