A Special Opportunity for Future Residents
Join us for an introductory look into the Galloway Ridge collection led by art historian Davenne Essif. Tour guests will explore and learn about a selection of our beautiful artwork over a 45-minute session.
Please note this is a walking tour for the entire 45 minutes, and attendance is limited to 10 per tour due to the intimate nature of the experience.
There are no more spots left on the guided art tour. We will be hosting more events throughout the year!
About the Galloway Ridge Art Collection
Begun in 2020, the Galloway Ridge Art Collection now counts more than 200 original works of art spread through the residence’s hallways, stairwells, and gathering spaces. This unique endeavor among our Galloway Ridge Art Advisory has brought together a compelling diversity of works spanning from the 13th-15th centuries to the present. Most importantly, these works are accessible for all in our enthusiastic community to enjoy.
About Davenne Essif, Ph.D
Davenne Essif, Ph.D., is an art historian who believes that everyone can understand art in their own ways and that discussing art can (and does!) forge meaningful connections and relationships between people, our stories, and our histories. Though she has served as adjunct faculty at UNC, her main position is currently at Galloway Ridge where she has been busy teaching resident class series, building a volunteer docent program, and getting lost in collection research which she uses for her classes, the docents, and short introductory videos focusing on individual collection objects.
